Martin Harris

McCarthy Gilroy is a state-of-the-art industrial complex that spans approximately 20.95 acres. The park is comprised of two Class A industrial warehouses, totaling 382,565 square feet. Each building is concrete tilt-up construction with 36-foot clear height ceilings, column spacing of 54&#8242; x 50&#8242;, and utilize skylights for natural light. Both buildings are equipped with ESFR sprinklers and a 4,000 Amp @ 277/480V power panel. Building A is approximately 183,600 square feet on a 9.91-acre site, features 20 dock-high doors, 4 grade level doors, 186 car parking spaces, and 22 trailer parking spaces. Building B is approximately 199,000 square feet on an 11.04-acre site, with 24 dock-high doors, 4 grade level doors, 196 car parking spaces, and 18 trailer parking spaces. Both warehouses have office shells that are yet to be built out. Sitework included utility coordination, asphalt paving for new parking and truck courts, and full landscaping.

McCarthy Gilroy Industrial Center

Construction of a new lite industrial warehouse facility on an 11-acre site. The building is a concrete tilt-up structure with 8-inch-thick site cast walls and a durable slab-on-grade foundation. The warehouse features 36-foot clear height ceilings and an efficient 60&#8242; x 56&#8242; column spacing layout to maximize storage flexibility. The scope also included a two-story, 10,023-sf speculative office space. King Commerce Center has 27 dock-high doors and two grade-level doors to support diverse loading requirements and a 4,000 Amp electrical service at 277/480V.  Work included demolition of three existing buildings, contaminated soils cleanup, all associated utility coordination and sitework, including 113 automobile parking spaces and 46 trailer parking positions.

San Jose, CA

King Commerce Center

The IPC Building 16 project was for the ground up new construction of a cold, dark shell spec warehouse building, development of site improvements and extensive landscaping, as well as an adjacent 10-acre parking lot. The warehouse is a state-of-the-art cross-load building comprised of 10” flat reinforced concrete floors and concrete tilt-up walls. It features 50’ clear height ceilings, 58’ x 60’ typical column spacing, 194 dock height doors, four grade-level doors, and 7,500-sf of spec office space. The structure is equipped with ESFR fire suppression system, LED warehouse lighting, and up to 8,000 amps; 277/480V; 3-phase (expandable) power. Construction of parking included a 185’ truck court with 60’ concrete aprons, 529 trailer stalls, and 624 automobile stalls. IPC Building 16 was built to LEED® Gold standards with sustainable design and construction elements that included water efficient landscaping, low-emitting materials, optimized energy efficient building systems, and significant amounts of construction waste was diverted from disposal.

Prologis International Park of Commerce Building 16

Industrial Park 580 was for the construction of a new, free-standing, single-tenant, side-loaded concrete tilt-up warehouse. The building included 2,600-sf of spec office space, 32’ clear height ceilings, 18 loading dock doors, two grade-level doors, 2,000 amps, 277/480v power, and ESFR fire suppression. The structure is suitable for a variety of uses including light manufacturing, industrial and warehouse, biotech, laboratory, and food production. The project was built to CalGreen building standards and the site features a 100% concrete, 136’ truck court and 60’ apron as well as 101 parking spaces.

Livermore, CA

Industrial Park 580

Tropical is a subsidiary of Coast Citrus Distributors, a major wholesaler of fruits and vegetables in the United States and Mexico. This project began with converting 23,500-sf of existing dry warehouse area to a cooler area. The scope of work for this phase included adding insulated metal panels, re-roofing the existing roof to include insulation, removing skylights, infilling openings, adding new refrigeration equipment and associated electrical work, and adding structural support of the new units.
In addition, after the conversion took place, the project also included modifications to the 56,000-square-foot existing cooler area consisting of adding new cooler rooms, reconfiguring lighting layouts, and adding refrigeration equipment along with associated structural and electrical work. Additional work included the partial conversion of the 6,800-square-foot dry dock area to a cold dock area along with modifying the sprinklers at the dry warehouse area.

Union City, CA

Coast Tropical Distribution Center

The Amazon OAK4 Fulfillment Center was a massive build-to-suit warehouse in the Prologis Park Tracy industrial park development. The warehouse footprint is 1,017,385-sf, but the facility includes two mezzanines that nearly doubles the size of usable square footage. The larger mezzanine is a three-story, 760,000-sf space that holds the robotic picking modules for the automated fulfillment system and the smaller mezzanine is a single-level, 238,000-sf space that houses the conveyor packing deck. The warehouse main floor is a fully automated distribution center that utilizes an advanced automated material handling system and extensive conveyors. Amazon OAK4 also includes 17,000-sf of cold storage and a two-story, 87,000-sf office buildout with space for open office areas, individual offices, breakrooms, and training facilities. The entire warehouse is climate-controlled for worker comfort and for the safety of the products handled and stored within. This project was completed on an accelerated schedule in just 11 months and without sacrificing quality or safety

Amazon OAK4 Fulfillment Center

Tracy Distribution Center IV was a new, state-of-the-art, Class A warehouse / distribution facility, built as a speculative property. Construction consisted of a slab-on-grade foundation, TPO over hybrid wood roof and steel joists, 36-foot clear height ceilings, ESFR fire protection, and new electrical service with 2,000 amps expandable to 4,000. The building features 116 dock height doors and approximately 10,000-sf of office space. Sitework began with demolition of an existing dairy farm and a number of residential homes and included construction of all associated hardscaping and auto and truck parking.

IPT Tracy Distribution Center IV

The park&#8217;s first building is one of the most advanced of its kind in the United States. Designed for the demands of today&#8217;s customers, the facility, located in California, includes a 40-foot clear height and significant vehicle and trailer parking with extended staging lanes. It will be constructed to LEED specifications.
When Prologis embarked on this new development, they once again hired Big-D Construction to build this 1 million square foot speculative building. The construction is comprised of concrete tilt-up exterior walls, hybrid panelized wood roof structure and a single ply roof membrane.
The required clear height and internal roof drains add complexity to the project. The roof drainage system features a siphonic drain system that allows drain lines to run long distance under the floor slab without any slope.
Big-D completed the project in just 8 months.

Amazon Fulfillment Center SJC7 (Prologis IPC 1)

The Pinole Point Business Park Phase II project consisted of construction of two new concrete tilt-up, core and shell warehouses in a master-planned industrial park. Building 1 is 250,000-sf, with 50 dock height doors, two grade-level doors, and 255 parking stalls. Building 2 is 225,000-sf, with 37 dock height doors, two grade-level doors, and 239 parking stalls. Both buildings feature 30’ clear height ceilings, 50’ x 52’ typical bay spacing, and numerous skylights. The buildings are equipped with ESFR fire suppression systems and 3,000 amp, 480/277 volt, 3-phase power. In additizon to automobile parking, each building has a truck court with 65’ concrete apron and secured truck yard. Pinole Point Business Park was designed with the goal of LEED certification. Prior to construction, Big-D oversaw the demolition of an existing, former steel factory to make way for the new development. All work was completed in just six months.

Pinole Point Business Park Phase II – Buildings 1 & 2

The Patterson Fulfillment Center is a 1,106,000-sf industrial warehouse with a 450,000-sf mezzanine and 66 dock doors for distribution. The exterior is made up of concrete tilt-up panels and the roof is a single-ply TPO membrane over an open web joist/metal deck roof structure. Big-D performed extensive and complex electrical work: the building has five electrical services totaling 15,000 Amps. The warehouse area is fully climate-controlled and includes high-efficiency lighting controlled by photocells and motion sensors. Patterson, California, is a small city in central California that competes with neighboring cities for business development. Although our project spurred significant curiosity and speculation in the community, Big-D exercised the utmost discretion per our client’s request

Amazon Patterson Fulfillment Center OAK3

This project consisted of construction of two new concrete tilt-up warehouses for retail tenant Crate &amp; Barrel, located in Prologis’ International Park of Commerce. The larger 827,000-sf warehouse is utilized for furniture storage and included 178 dock doors. The 398,000-sf smaller building is a distribution center for houseware products and direct fulfillment orders for Crate &amp; Barrel and features 76 dock height doors. The project is LEED Gold certified, achieved by use of numerous sustainable strategies, including recycled and locally sourced construction materials, efficient mechanical and electrical systems, and low-emitting materials. Additionally, during construction Big-D was able to divert 75% of construction waste from the landfill.

Crate & Barrel Clearance Center & Warehouse

Patterson Pass Building 11 was a ground up construction, state-of-the-art warehouse and distribution facility project located in the Patterson Pass Business Park master planned development. This 159,000-sf warehouse was constructed with a slab-on-grade foundation, concrete tilt-up concrete walls, 50&#8242; x 50&#8242; column spacing, a panelized wood roof framing system, EDPM single-ply roofing membrane, and an ESFR fire suppression system. Big-D Construction’s scope of work included all associated site work, utilities and landscaping

Patterson Pass Building 11

Morton Commerce Center is a four-building industrial development on a 30-acre site, situated between Silicon Valley and Oakland. It’s comprised of state-of-the-art buildings that were designed and constructed for flexibility and the ability for tenants to “super park” for companies with large numbers of employees. Buildings feature skylights for ample natural light, extensive glass lines, 30- to 32-foot clear height and numerous dock doors, an ESFR sprinkler system, roofs with 100% solar capacity, exterior workspaces to encourage productivity and employee collaboration, and office space and office-to-suit capacity. All buildings are equipped with heavy power, ideal for tenants involved in advanced automation; contract manufacturing and assembly; 3D printing; food manufacturing and preparation; life science research and development; biotechnology; automotive supply chain functions; aerospace and defense work; and autonomous driving. Big-D’s scope of work also included miscellaneous offsite improvements; curbing, traffic signal installation, etc.

Morton Commerce Center

The Kato Road project was for construction of a new, approximately 300,000-sf cross-dock warehouse on a 15.88-acre site. The building consists of a slab-on-grade foundation with concrete tilt-up wall panels, and 32-foot clear height ceilings. Construction of the building included skylights, aluminum curtainwall, a painted exterior with 54 dock height doors, ESFR fire protection, make-up air units, new electrical service, and emergency/egress lighting. Construction on the new core and shell facility took just 10 months to complete.
Big-D was subsequently contracted by Tesla Motors to complete a comprehensive tenant improvement of the entire building for use as an engineering test facility.

Fremont, CA

Westcore Kato Road Warehouse Core & Shell

The Stantine-Pioneer building is a new, concrete tilt-up panel structure, designed with 30,000-sf of built out space for their tenant, Composites One, and the remainder as a spec warehouse for future tenants. The building utilized a unique sandwich-panel design. To increase the insulating value of the building envelope, the concrete tilt-up panel walls were poured in two parts while inserting a rigid foam insulation between the panels. The complexity of this system required additional coordination and heightened quality control to the standing panels that weighed up to 145,000 pounds. The Composites One tenant suite was constructed to meet a high-hazard classification with special consideration in fire ratings, ESFR sprinkling system, fiberglass doors and other items to accommodate potential volatile chemicals and resins. This suite has three unique rooms with explosion-proof equipment, additional grounding capabilities and specific climate criteria for storing hazardous chemicals and resins.
